Kindergarten Registration

Registration for kindergarten students for the Pelham Schools 2012-13 school year will take place on Monday, January 23 and Tuesday, January 24.  Eligible Pelham students for Siwanoy and Prospect Hill Schools are asked to register at the District Office on January 23 and for Colonial and Hutchinson Schools on January 24. Children do not need to be present for registration.

Registration is open to children who will be five years old on or before December 31, 2012.  Families with a last name beginning with A through L are asked to come between 9 to 11:30 am and with last names M through Z between 1 and 3:00 pm.  The District Office is located on the ground floor of Pelham Memorial High School.  Entrance is at 18 Franklin Place.  Anyone who can not be present at their designated time and on the designated day are asked to make an appointment by calling 914 738 3434, ext 1211.

On January 23 and 24, parents/guardians will meet with the Central Office registration clerk and a school nurse to submit completed registration forms and identification documents and provide necessary information about each child.  It is necessary that parents/guardians IN PERSON present the completed registration application forms and bring ORIGINAL documentation to the District Office. Parents are also asked to bring appropriate health forms. In accordance with State Law, children entering the public schools must be immunized again rubella (German Measles, DPT, measles, mumps, poliomyeltits, varicella and hepatitis.

All forms and requirements can be downloaded from the district web site at www.pelhamschools.org.  Several forms must be notarized. Parent/guardians are asked not to mail registration information as it will not be accepted.

A kindergarten evening information session will be scheduled in May to discuss programs.  In addition, parent/guardians and their children will be invited by appointment to visit the kindergarten program and meet the kindergarten tem an their respective school.  At the time, teachers will spend time observing each child. A more in-depth screening by the speech/language teacher, resource room teacher and kindergarten teachers will be done in September when students are more familiar with their schools.

All requirements and forms are posted on the district and school sites under District Announcements. Data generated by registration will assist the district in planning an appropriate program for students in terms of staffing.
