NOVEMBER 2010

Out With the Old...

Demolition is in full force at the Picture House in Pelham. The renovations to the nearly 90-year-old landmark theater will provide a more modern film-viewing experience. The iconic Picture House has hosted some of the best films over the last nine decades from “talkies” to most recently bringing films that are often special previews of limited-release films or timely documentaries. During the construction phase, The Picture House will continue to offer a diverse selection of independent films to audiences at Sarah Lawrence College’s Heimbold Visual Arts Building in neighboring Bronxville. Visit www.thepicturehouse.org for upcoming events and exciting re-opening plans. Photo credit: Adam Staffa/The Picture House©

Charles Fazzino Opens Studio
for Arts Fest

Hundreds of admiring fans turned out to visit Pelham artist Charles Fazzino during his participation in New Rochelle’s Art Fest from October 1 to 3. The open house and art studio tours offered the public a rare chance to meet the Master of 3-D Pop Art and get a glimpse of his headquarters that once housed the historic Terry Toons cartoon studio.
As the creator of 3-D limited edition fine art silkscreen serigraphs, he is known for his obsession with bright colors and detail along with a unique hand assembled three dimensional layering technique that brings his images to life. Over 600 galleries world-wide exhibit Fazzino’s work. He has created detailed tributes to countless cities and has a prestigious list of project partners, commissions and charitable work.

Fazzino appears at over 30 one man shows annually. With his daughter Heather, who is also an artist , they welcomed visitors to the new Fazzino showroom on October 1 and 3rd.
On October 2 he had a prior commitment—a one-man show in New Jersey!
